Parsons Consulting Engineers Ltd. has been engaged to assess the structural impact of severe flooding on a residential property. The floodwaters reached halfway up the walls, causing extensive damage to fibreboard walls, external decking, and subfloor supports. A key concern is ground settlement, as sections of the floor appear to have sunk, potentially due to foundation displacement. Parsons will conduct a structural investigation to evaluate the integrity of the foundation and timber supports and propose remedial measures. Additionally, flood protection solutions, such as raising the property or installing flood barriers, will be considered to mitigate future risks.
